Myths and facts — know both
Misconceptions about addiction are the single biggest barrier to treatment. A few common ones:
❌ Myth: “If willpower is strong enough, addiction goes away on its own.”
✅ Fact: Addiction is a disease of the brain — it responds to proper treatment, not to intention alone.
❌ Myth: “A herbal remedy or a ritual can cure it for good.”
✅ Fact: An unprescribed “secret medicine” can be dangerous — a proper medical assessment is the route that works.
❌ Myth: “Once an addict, always an addict.”
✅ Fact: Millions of people have left drugs behind and live ordinary lives — it is not too late, at any age.

Frequently asked questions
The questions every family has — answered directly.
Is de-addiction treatment really free?
Yes — under the NAPDDR scheme, treatment, admission and counselling at IRCA centres, district-hospital ATFs and DDACs are free of charge. Private centres set their own fees.
Will my information stay private? Will the police find out?
Seeking treatment is not a crime — it is treatment for an illness. Your identity and treatment details stay confidential.
What documents are needed for admission?
Usually an Aadhaar or other ID and the consent of one family member is enough — each centre profile lists what it asks for.
If a relapse happens, can treatment start again?
Absolutely — a relapse is not a failure of treatment, it is part of the illness. A second round of treatment is often more effective than the first.
A message from our founder
“Addiction is not one person’s defeat — it is the whole family’s fight. And that fight is won with the right information, the right treatment and the people who stand by you. That is why we built this platform.”
— Dr. Brij Kishor Saini Sabal Trust
