About Us — Sabal Trust

Sabal Nasha Mukti Kendra is a public-health initiative of Sabal Trust (registration no. 558, Kota, Rajasthan). Our purpose is simple: to get the right information and the right treatment to a person struggling with addiction — and to their family — without shame, without cost and without delay.

Why this website exists

Working in a district-level de-addiction OPD, one pattern came up again and again: the family is ready for treatment but does not know where to go. Many spend months on faith healers, “secret herbal cures” and private centres with no doctor and no defined treatment. A large multicentre Indian study found that people take on average about three years between the start of the problem and their first request for help — and in more than half of the cases it is a family member, not the patient, who reaches out first.

Closing that three-year gap is what this website is for. That is why everything here is in plain Hindi, works on an ordinary mobile phone, and — most importantly — lets anyone search 984 government and government-recognised de-addiction centres across India free, with no login and without giving a name.

What we do

  • Centre finder: choose your state and district and get the address and phone number of nearby government or aided centres.
  • Guidance for families: how to recognise the signs, how to talk, what to do when the person refuses treatment, and what to do after a relapse.
  • Plain-language information on every substance — alcohol, opioids, cannabis, tobacco, prescription medicines, inhalants and synthetic drugs.
  • Government schemes: where free treatment is available and who is eligible.
  • Confidential counselling by phone and WhatsApp — for the person and for the family.
  • Field work: awareness camps, school and college programmes, and rural outreach.

What we promise — and our limits

  • We never claim “100% cure”, “guaranteed recovery” or “de-addiction in 7 days”. Addiction is a long-term illness and treatment takes time.
  • We do not promote any private centre and take no money from any centre. Government and recognised centres are listed first.
  • We do not share your identity with anyone. Nothing on this website requires a login or a name.
  • The information here is not a substitute for a doctor’s advice. Medicines and treatment must always be supervised by a qualified physician.
  • We are not a 24×7 emergency service. In an emergency call 108 / 112 first; for de-addiction and mental health, the government helplines are 14446 and 14416.

Our team

Dr. Brij Kishor Saini — MBBS, MD (Psychiatry)

Specialist in addiction and mental health, trained at NDDTC, AIIMS Delhi. All health content on this website is medically reviewed by Dr. Saini — the byline at the foot of every health page is the record of that review.

Counselling team

Our counselling team works directly with patients and families in a district-level de-addiction OPD. That field experience shapes the language and the examples used across this website.

Legal review

Legal and compliance pages are reviewed with the help of Adv. Sapna Verma (Kota).

How our content is made

Every page goes through three steps: ① facts gathered from reliable sources (WHO, NDDTC-AIIMS, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment) ② written in plain Hindi so that a reader with limited schooling can follow it ③ reviewed and approved by a psychiatrist. The full process is set out in our editorial policy, and the origin of the centre list is documented openly on the data source page.
